DEVIŅSPĒKS
The DEVIŅSPĒKS learning cycle is an evolving training path rooted in Latvian pirts tradition.
The programme began in 2023 as a collaborative project. Over time, its format has developed into a more practice-oriented and participant-centred learning experience.
DEVIŅSPĒKS is also the name of my pirts space in Dobele, Latvia.
Many of the in-person sessions take place there, while others are held in carefully chosen locations in the Zemgale region.
Why “Deviņspēks” — The Nine Powers?
In Latvian cultural symbolism, the number nine represents completion, integration and the closing of a cycle. It carries the sense of initiation and transformation.
Pirts itself is a place of connection — where body, nature and awareness meet.
The clearer and more grounded the practitioner, the more authentic and meaningful the process becomes.
Each pirts practitioner develops their own “instruments” — skills, sensitivities and tools that support their work.
The DEVIŅSPĒKS learning cycle invites participants to discover and refine their own authentic approach to pirts practice.
International Pirts Camp & Collaboration
The DEVIŅSPĒKS pirts camp path is rooted in Latvian tradition and developed through years of practical and ceremonial experience.
It offers embodied learning in small groups, where traditional craft, plant knowledge and hands-on practice meet.
All programmes are held in small groups — usually up to 12 participants — depending on the capacity and structure of the pirts space.
This ensures safety, personal guidance and meaningful practical experience.
The working language for international programmes is English.
Pirts is not only a technique — it is a relationship.
A relationship with plants, with heat, with rhythm, with presence.
Authentic traditions grow through shared practice and respectful exchange.
DEVIŅSPĒKS continues to evolve through collaboration, small groups and dedicated learning.
Wherever we meet — in Latvia or beyond —
the work remains rooted in authenticity and lived experience.
